LONG DRIVE KICKS OFF THIS THURSDAY NIGHT WITH A COMMUNITY EVENT AT CALLIOPE RODEO GROUNDS

MEDIA RELEASE – FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Wednesday 24 August 2022

With $80,000 already under the bonnet for Drought Angels, the Long Drive For Drought kicks off with a community event at Calliope Rodeo Ground with BBQ, open bar, and a Toyota 40 Series car display from 5.30pm.

Long Drive founder, Brent Reeman, is humbled and excited to be starting in his hometown of Calliope this year.

“We love staying in small communities because of the great welcome they give us and it’s a two way street – we give back to them by supporting small businesses during the trip, and I’m really excited to be starting in my hometown of Calliope,” Mr Reeman said.

“We’d love for the community to come down to the Rodeo Ground and check out the cars, grab something to eat and drink, and be part of the excitement.”

Gladstone Councillor, Desley O’Grady, is keen to see the community attend the event at the Rodeo Ground and get behind such a great cause.

“It’s incredible to see the impact that the Long Drive For Drought team has made in such a short amount of time,” Cr O’Grady said.

“Eight nights, 18 towns and 3000km is a mighty effort, but what’s even more impressive is they have managed to raise $80,000 before their journey has even begun.

“This is a remarkable achievement and one I’m sure the Drought Angels will be thrilled about.”

All funds raised go to charity partner, Drought Angels, who provide relief to farmers affected by disasters including drought, floods, fires, and plagues.

Special thanks to Gladstone Regional Council and Calliope Rodeo and Speciality Events for helping us to make this community event happen.
